Hot and Cold

My boys love the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakquel. Talan especially loves it and I would always hear him sing a song off of it called Hot and Cold, by Katy Perry. So, the other day when he was singing it I asked him if he wanted to hear the whole song on the computer, and of course he did. I found the video to the song on you tube and played it for him, not knowing how much I would regret doing this later.

As you can imagine, Talan and Ky both loved it and I have being playing Hot and Cold non-stop for the past three days! Ky is constantly going to the computer and saying "song" and will not stop until he sees the video and the music starts. Once it's over, he finds me and the cycle begins again. I finally got a little video of them dancing to it and it's really cute. Hopefully, this little phase will be over soon or atleast I can maybe get them listening to a new song! A Mom can dream, can't she?

Jayden's first toothfairy visit!

This evening after dinner, Jayden was playing with his loose tooth. I felt it and it was loose, but I didn't think it was quite ready to come out. I told him if he wanted to make it come out sooner, to go eat an apple. He did that, but complained that it was hurting his gums so I sent him to Jarrad to see what he thought. Jarrad poked and prodded and he agreed that it probably wasn't quite ready. However, Jayden had other plans and asked Daddy to get the pliers. And what do you know, Jarrad latched the pliers on his tooth, Jayden jerked and out popped the tooth without Jarrad even having to pull! Jayden is super excited since he'll be 7 in May and had yet to loose a tooth. He was the last one in his class that hadn't lost a tooth. Needless to say, he is a happy boy right now, while his mommy is a little sad that her oldest boy is growing up.

PS....the toothfairy is giving him a dollar, my toothfairy must have been poor she only gave me 50 cents.

For spring break this year we went to Gulf Shores, AL. It is located on the Gulf of Mexico right next to the Florida pan handle, it is literally 11 miles from the Florida state line and it is beautiful. The beaches are white and beautiful, the boys had a blast. We invited my parents to come along and split the cost of the condo, which made for more fun along with a much cheaper vacation.

The first day we got there it was really windy, but warm. The rest of the days were nice and in the low 70's, it was great. The boys enjoyed playing in the sand and collecting shells, we now have two bags of shells I have no idea what to do with. That's the best thing about a beach vacation, you don't have to spend a lot of money to entertain the kids, you have ocean and sand right there. Of course, Jayden said he second favorite thing on vacation was the hot tub, go figure.

We also went to the local zoo and got to hold a baby kangaroo that was 7 months old. It was the most adorable thing ever! He was super sweet and gave Jayden, Talan and me kisses. The zoo also had food you could buy and feed the animals, so we also got to feed donkeys, goats, sheep, llamas and deer.

• Listening to "The very best of Elmo" almost the entire 15 hour car ride home.


• Singing itsy bitsy spider over and over and over the last 3 hours in the car.


• The amount of McDonalds food that was consumed...barf!


• The traffic jam in Birmingham, AL that made a 12 hour car ride a 15 hour one on the way home.

• (Jayden) "Mom, the only reason you want me to go into the ocean is so a Jellyfish will sting me so you'll get to pee on me." (We had been joking with Jayden before we left, that if you get stung by a Jellyfish someone has to pee on you to help the sting, so when he said this it cracked me up.)




• (Talan) "I'm not bringing the sand to preschool because I'd spill it everywhere and then I'd be in that timeout chair forever!" ( That is how T responded when my mom asked if he'd take the sand we collected to show and tell at preschool)


• (Kylen) "Dada, poop, uck." (Self explanatory)



It was a really good trip and I loved getting to spend "fun" time with my family!

And so the drama begins....

Yesterday afternoon Jayden got in trouble by Jarrad because he was bugging Talan right after he woke up from his nap. Anyone that knows Talan also knows he is quite the crab when he wakes up and Jayden feeds on bugging him. Anyway, after he was yelled at by Jarrad, I noticed that Jayden was gone and that there was a note left on my computer desk.

The note said, Good-bye mom and dad. I am going to my room and never coming out. Don't cry. I love you.

I thought it was cute and funny and Jarrad was impressed that he wrote that all down. Then I thought, Oh no, I thought I didn't have to deal with drama since I only have boys, I guess I was wrong. However, a few minutes later Jayden was downstairs playing and acting like nothing ever happened. I was relieved in knowing that atleast if I have to deal with some drama, it only lasts a few minutes! I will be keeping the note until he is 16 when I can then show it to his dates.

Last week a few Pacer players came to Jayden's school and read to all the first graders. Jayden was pretty excited and he brought home a couple of posters and goodies that the players gave to the kids. Then the next day, Jayden came home from school really excited because he said he got tickets to a Pacers game. I thought he was making it up, until I looked in his bag and saw the two tickets.

Since Jarrad had already taken Jayden to a Pacers game before, it was my turn to take him. I shouldn't mention that when Jarrad took him he had box seats from FedEx and my turn was in the nosebleed section. :) We ended up going with our next door neighbors Michael and Austin since they got the free tickets too. The boys loved getting to go together and had a great time. Although, I think they had more fun eating cotton candy and watching Boomer than actually watching the basketball game and quite frankly I agree, watching NBA games is like watching a glorified game of "horse". In the end, it was a great time for the boys and I loved getting to spend some one-on-one time with Jayden. The Pacers actually won too! It was a fun night!

This past Saturday we finally had decent weather, so we were outside most of the day. Jarrad spent the morning washing both of our cars, which then led to him putting his summer tires back on his Mustang. The boys loved every minute of it and then they decided that their Mustangs needed some work like daddy's car, so they stole Jarrad's jack and went to work. It was super cute. All my boys are complete "gear heads" and could spend every waking minute talking or playing with cars. They've definitely inherited the Asay car gene.

Last Tuesday, Talan had a field trip to the fire station. I usually don't go to all of his field trips since it's during Ky's nap time, but I knew Kylen would enjoy this as much as Talan so I volunteered to drive. They got a tour of the station along with getting a chance to sit in the fire truck which they both loved ofcourse. The fire fighters did a wonderful job with the kids and one of them put on the full gear and asked the kids to give him a hug, so they would know not to be afraid of them if there was ever a fire in their house. Talan had no problem doing this, Ky however thought no chance in hadies! All in all, it was a short and fun, my kind of field trip!
